CivicPulse  ·  Effective May 24, 2026  ·  Last updated May 24, 2026

1. Introduction

CivicPulse ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the CivicPulse mobile application ("App") collects, uses, and shares information when you use it on iOS or Android devices.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Location Data. When you first launch the App, we ask for your approximate location solely to identify your congressional district and match you with your U.S. House and Senate representatives. We do not store your precise GPS coordinates on our servers. Location is resolved once on-device and the resulting congressional district identifier is used for representative lookup. You may decline location permission; the App will prompt you to enter your address manually instead.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Device Identifiers & Advertising Data. The App uses Google AdMob to display non-intrusive native ads. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android), IP address, and ad interaction data in order to serve and measure ads. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings at any time. Purchasing the "Remove Ads" upgrade eliminates all ad serving from AdMob.

In-App Purchase Records. When you purchase the "Remove Ads" premium upgrade, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive only a confirmation token indicating whether a valid purchase exists — we do not receive your payment card details, billing address, or full purchase history.

Usage & Crash Data. We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage information (e.g., app launch counts, feature interactions, crash reports) through standard platform mechanisms. This data cannot be linked back to you as an individual.

4. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

These third parties are not permitted to use any data they receive through the App for their own independent purposes beyond what is described above.

European / UK Residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you access the App from the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our lawful basis for processing location data is your explicit consent. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. All communication between the App and our back-end database is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top. For material changes, we will provide notice through the App or App Store update notes. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
